Beer Cocktails
Some would consider it sacrilege to put anything in your beer... but for those who don't, or those who want to know what these names are all about.. here's a list of the more popular 'Beer Cocktails'.

Black & Tan Recipe

1 part Bass Pale Ale
1 part Guiness Stout

Fill stein half full with Bass. Next pour guinness over a spoon slowly until glass is full. If done correctly, the Guinness will stay on top and the Bass on bottom.

Beer Bloody Mary
12 oz. chilled beer,
12 oz. tomato juice,
Dash Tabasco ,
Dash Worcestershire sauce

Combine ingredients; pour over ice in old-fashioned glasses.

Shandy
A favourite ale mixed with ginger beer ...

Lager and Lime
Generally used with a light lager with a splash of lime juice or Rose's Lime Cordial.

Lager and Black Current
A favourite lager with a shot of Black Currant flavouring (Ribena).

Snakebite
A mix of a "beer of choice" and cider. Another version of the snakebite is a mixture of stout and cider.

Cooking with Beer

Fish in Beer Batter
2 cups flour
1-1/2 cups beer
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. Pepper
1 tsp. Onion powder
1/4 tsp. Turmeric
2 lbs. fillet of sole
vegetable oil for deep-frying

Blend flour, beer, eggs, pepper, onion powder, and turmeric well, but do not over beat. Batter should "plop" from a spoon. If it is too thin, thicken with additional flour. Dry each piece of fish with paper towels. Heat oil to 375 'F in an automatic deep-fryer. Dip fish pieces in batter and deep-fry for 5-10 minutes. Turn occasionally. Drain fish on paper towels and serve immediately with tartar sauce. Serves 6
