| Upon receiving his MBA in Marketing from the University of North Texas, Lon quickly re-directed his career from market research to the retail/foodservice industry. After a stint with the Army Air Force Exchange Service, he worked with a number of foodservice and hotel operations that helped fine-tune his wine education and service. His real interest in wine piqued while serving fine wines and champagnes to celebrities at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas during the mid-70’s. While serving a 10 year stint with a national purveyor of gourmet meats and foods Lon became involved with a number of wine groups who met regularly to enjoy fine wines and explore opportunities to tie in wine events with social and charitable functions. It was at this point that Lon decided to focus his career and follow his passion for wine. After becoming certified in Levels 1 & 2 in the International Sommelier Guild’s studies program, Lon committed to working and sharing his interest with others who had a ‘thirst’ for wine. After getting his consulting feet wet with a small wine retailer, Lon joined the Centennial team in 2005. Lon plans to continue on to complete his graduating diploma level of the ISG program within the next couple of years. Lon’s goal is to share his passion, knowledge, fun, as well as interesting wines, with his customers. |
